CSU San Marcos | Assoc. Director of Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Associate Director, under the direction of the Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) Director, manages the daily
operation of SHCS, with specific focus on Counseling Services. This includes, but is not limited to, its reception and intake
process, the handling of crises and other special situations. This position will also provide project leadership and represent the
department on key projects within the department, area, division and campus. This position will assist the director in any
accreditation audits and reviews, including overseeing the preparation of necessary procedural manuals and documents, as well
as coordination of any data, which might be necessary for such reviews, and will represent the organization in such encounters
with outside agencies as delegated. Along with lead Physician, this position provides leadership and direction to staff in the
absence of the director. The Associate Director serves as the Training Director for the training programs for pre-doctoral
interns, post-doctoral fellows and other trainees; may provide individual, group and crisis counseling and psychotherapy on as
needed basis, provides consultation to staff and faculty with regard to managing student concerns, and oversees planning of
prevention and education workshops and programs.
