On March 3, 2014, NBC4 of Southern California featured Alliant in a news story about affordable education in Mexico City. Currently, there is a trend in California of students moving to Mexico City in search of a lower cost education. As an accredited American university in Mexico City, Anchor John C. Klemack, calls Alliant a "hidden gem", offering students a distinct advantage because the degree  they earn is recognized in the same way a degree earned in the States would be. Additionally, students are eligible for the same financial aid, scholarships and grants as students attending school in the U.S.--all while paying about half of the tuition cost. Students studying in Mexico City are also at an advantage because they are immersed in another language and culture in a large, international city.
