Biography
Professor James Perren currently teaches in the California School of Education at Alliant International University. He has been teaching since the early 1990s at San Jose State University in California. He has also taught in Japan, Jamaica, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
Professional Interests
James’ disciplinary scholarship has examined educational technology, technology in English language education, service-learning in applied linguistics, intercultural communication, ESL/EFL teaching methodology, materials development, teacher training, and critical SLA theory.

- BA Degree in Spanish and an MA: TESOL Degree from San José State University in California.

Scholarship and Contributions to the Field
- James has presented internationally and domestically on multiple occasions since the late 1990s on a variety of research topics such as English language teaching activities, testing in assessment, teacher training, international and domestic service-learning, technology use in education, and others. Dr. Perren has also published a number of individual chapters and journal articles for various publishers, such as Multilingual Matters, Bloomsbury Publishing, Anker Publishing, Michigan University Press, IGI Global, and TESOL Press. Many of the publication topics have been related to those research and teaching practice topics mentioned above... on occasion co-authored with collaborators from around the world.
