PBS SoCal has recently named Dr. Michi Fu as one of the Southern California Community Champions. Michi has dedicated her education and time to helping women and children from underserved, immigrant communities. Her goal is to help children feel safe within their home environments as well as to give back to the community. Michi helps children and parents hear each other by being the ambassador between these two generations. The inter-cultural course which Michi teaches helps student grasp the idea of what it feels like to be a minority and how to empower these underserved, immigrant communities.

Michi stated, “I’m thrilled to have been recognized for work that I love to do. I’m humbled that my students and colleagues were willing to offer such gracious comments on what it’s been like to work together. I feel very fortunate to be able to collaborate with such talented and passionate individuals to better serve our community. I look forward to continuing to work with our students on our youth sexuality research project and events highlighting the celebration of diversity.”
