Concentrations and Specializations

Within the doctoral curriculum, students may customize their education and training through elective coursework, professional fieldwork training and dissertation research, to pursue specific areas of professional interest.

Doctoral students select either the Strategic Human Resource Management or the Executive Coaching concentration, which are part of the 98-unit PhD program.

Students may also pursue the Consulting Psychology specialization, which builds on the Executive Coaching concentration. Students in this specialization take 14 additional units and a special internship supervised by a licensed psychologist, which will better prepare them for licensure.

Students in the Consulting Specialization take additional courses that cover some of the key areas in the licensure exam. However, the Consulting Specialization is not a requirement for licensure. All students can seek licensure by following the state regulations. Students are encouraged to consult with the Program Director for more specific discussion of licensure.
