Becoming a…Psychologist

Q: What inspired you to pursue this degree program/profession? 

A: My family, my culture, and my community back home. I recognized early on the need for Spanish-speaking clinicians and the lack of Latinx clinicians. This in turn has inspired me to continue to embed myself in communities that are in need of bilingual and bicultural clinicians.  

Q: Describe the most rewarding parts of your student experience so far. 

A: The many different people I have been privileged to interact with and work with, including the fond memories I have created with my classmates and practicum collogues.

Q: Share your advice for new students on how to be successful in the program.

A: Learn to organize yourself and create your unique system that works for you to be successful. For example, a starting point to get organized could be to buy yourself a planner.   

Q: What impact do you hope to make through the work you do?

A: To be able to spread compassion, love, and appreciation for one another. To bring love and compassion in all I do.
