Dean Haskell is pleased to announce the hire of Dr. Saba Ozyurt as the new assistant professor of International Studies at Alliant International University. "We are very excited about the addition of Dr. Ozyurt as an International Studies core faculty member at Alliant's School of Management & Leadership. She brings with her excellent academic credentials and a fascinating interdisciplinary research agenda focusing on Muslim women migrant organizations in Europe and North America. She is an enthusiastic and engaging person, and I look forward to her contributions to our School and to Alliant's multicultural and international focus" said Dean Haskell.
Dr. Ozyurt received her Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Irvine in 2009. Her research interests are interdisciplinary in nature and lie at the intersection of gender, immigration and intercultural relations in pluralistic societies. Specifically, her work looks at the role of community-based NGOs in the empowerment and integration of Muslim migrant women into Western host societies. She was a visiting research fellow at the UCSD Center for Comparative Immigration Studies in 2008-2009 and a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at UCI in 2010-2011. Saba Ozyurt has taught various courses at UC Irvine, UC San Diego and Chapman University as an adjunct faculty before joining Alliant International University.
