SAN DIEGO (May 19, 2022) - Alliant International University (Alliant), the leading professional practice university for mental health degrees, announced today the official launch of its new online Master of Social Work (MSW) Program. Within the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), students who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher will now be able to enroll in a Master’s in Social Work at Alliant.
“We are thrilled to bring this new master’s program to CSPP and expand the reach of mental health professionals skills coming out of Alliant to support their communities and the people around them,” said Megan Lindsey, program director of MSW. “With an ever growing need for professionals in this role, the program is open to all students who hold a bachelor’s degree regardless if the student received it in a non-social work field. Whether you are an undergraduate student searching for your calling or an adult looking for a fulfilling career change, Alliant’s fully online course provides the flexibility and opportunity to succeed.”
Starting in January 2023, Alliant's MSW program will be offered fully online with small class sizes, providing graduating college seniors or adults holding a bachelor’s degree or higher the opportunity to enroll in a flexible program. The program prepares students for a career in advanced social work and promotes the integration of classroom learning with real-world experiences in practicum settings to equip graduates for the tasks and responsibilities encountered in professional social work practice.
The program curriculum puts an emphasis on experiential social work from educators with experience within CSPP, which holds a 50+ year legacy in psychology education leadership and leadership in mental health education.
The MSW degree program is a 60-credit program and takes a minimum of two years to complete. For more information on the new program including prerequisites and qualifications, visit alliant.edu/schools/cspp or reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.

About Master in Social Work (MSW) Program:
Alliant International University is currently in Pre-Candidacy for Accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education's Commission on Accreditation. Pre-Candidacy for a baccalaureate or master's social work program by the Council on Social Work Education's Commission on Accreditation indicates that it has submitted an application to be reviewed for Candidacy and had its Benchmark I approved in draft form to move forward with Candidacy review within one year. A program that has attained Pre-Candidacy has not yet been reviewed by the Commission on Accreditation or been verified to be in compliance with the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.
Students who enter programs in Pre-Candidacy that attain Candidacy in the academic year in which they begin their program of study will be retroactively recognized as having graduated from a CSWE-accredited program once the program attains Initial Accreditation. The Candidacy Process is typically a three-year process and there is no guarantee that a program in Pre-Candidacy will eventually attain Candidacy or Initial Accreditation.
Candidacy by the Council on Social Work Education's Commission on Accreditation applies to all locations and delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.
