Dr. Constance Dalenberg, professor, CSPP-SD, won the annual “Janet Award” for the most important contribution to writing on dissociation for a 2012 Psychological Bulletin article. She received the award from the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.

CSPP-SD faculty Dr. Marina Dorian, and Dr. Ron Stolberg, were recently promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.

Dr. Nurcan Ensari, professor, CSPP-LA, presented a special consulting webinar entitled, "Getting from College to Career in Organizational Psychology." The webinar was open to the public, specifically targeting current college students considering industrial/organizational psychology as a career field.

On November 27, 2012 the San Diego City Council approved the Mayor’s appointment of Dr. David Felsen, professor, CSML-SD, to the International Affairs Board, a City of San Diego advisory body that is dedicated to broadening international and cross-cultural links between the United States and other countries. Dr. Felsen will serve a two year term on this advisory body. Additionally, Dr. Felsen attended the 58th NATO Parliamentary Assembly held in Prague in November, 2012 as an invited observer delegate. Conference participants included parliamentarians from NATO countries involved in foreign, defense and security matters, academics and non-governmental organization representatives. Discussions were held on issues ranging from defense spending and global migration challenges to the Arab Spring and the euro zone crisis.

Dr. Michi Fu, associate professor, CSPP-LA, was featured in a news segment about mental health in Asian communities by LA 18, a Chinese language news channel. Although primarily in Mandarin, some of Dr. Fu’s statements can be heard in English.

Dr. Dale Glaser, principal lecturer and advanced statistics mentor, CSPP-SD, had the following article accepted for publication:

Dr. Fred Heide, associate professor, CSPP-SF, was selected as this year's commencement speaker at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, his undergraduate alma mater.

Dr. John Kantor, associate professor and associate program director, CSPP-SD, was invited to speak at the International Symposium in Ankara Turkey this month:

CSPP-SD faculty Dr. Debra Kawahara, published the book Feminist Therapy with Latina Women in November. It was written with former CSPP faculty member Dr. Oliva Espin. Dr. Kawahara was also recently promoted to the rank of Professor.

Dr. Robert “Bob” Leark, professor, CSFS-SD, had a paper accepted for the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Society conference held in Maasticht, Netherlands in June, 2013. He will present a symposium entitled, “Psychopathy across populations: prisoners, forensic patients and community samples,” which he wrote with two Belgian colleagues. He also presented a scientific paper at the recent Society of Police & Criminal Psychology Annual Conference in Birmingham, AL.

Dr. Rodney L. Lowman, distinguished professor, CSPP-SD, recently added the following new publication and new presentation to his CV:

Dr. Carl Mack, associate professor, CSPP-SAC, will present the workshop "Preschool Teacher Leadership in Reggio Emilia Projects: Making a Difference," at the Annual California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) Conference in March 2013. This workshop presents the results of a year-long, action research collaborative partnership between Peregrine Preschool in Davis, California and CSPP-SAC.

Dr. Kevin O'Connor, distinguished professor, and Dr. Sue Ammen, professor, both of CSPP-FR, just published a new book, Play Therapy Treatment Planning and Interventions: The Ecosystemic Model and Workbook, 2nd Ed. The book focuses on play therapy assessment, treatment planning and interventions and includes assets such as: a comprehensive intake form, a form for organizing a case conceptualization and forms for organizing treatment plans. A unique aspects of the book is the companion website created by the publisher where people can download the various forms directly to use in classes or in their own clinical work.

Dr. Jason Platt, associate professor and program director, CSPP-MC, signed a referral agreement with the government juvenile outpatient parole center, Comunidad Externa para la Atención de Adolescentes, which will channel youth offenders and their families to the Mexico City campus' California Clinic. As the first agreement of its kind for The California Clinic, this will ensure its growth and provide students with a wealth of practicum and research opportunities.

Dr. Neil Ribner, professor and program director, CSPP-SD, received a $60,000 grant for the Alliant Parenting Coordination Program from the Claire Rose Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Ribner recently presented on mental health issues and parenting with Dr. Debra Kawahara in San Diego at the 8th Annual Conference on Guiding the Lives of Children of Divorce and Separation.

Dr. Reiko True, program director, CSPP-TK, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Francisco Psychological Association (SFPA) at the Annual SFPA Convention held in November.

Associate Dean Danny Wedding, PhD, CSPP-SF, attended the 2012 annual meeting of the Northern California Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society where he accepted a “Community Partner Award” on behalf of CSPP. CSPP-SF students Goldie VanHeel and Kevin Lecy attended along with Dr. Wedding, with Mr. Lecy receiving a personal award for his contribution to a pain reduction/stress management program developed for people living with multiple sclerosis.
