Master of Art in Clinical Counseling, Online Campus (Fresno-based)

Professional Information

Associate Mental Health Professional at Kaiser Permanente in Fresno, CA

Q: How did your Alliant experience contribute to your career growth?

A: For me, Alliant was everything!! Of course, I complained. Of course, some of my classes were irritating. I was a student. That is all part of the experience. However, I received from Alliant exactly what I wanted. My degree opened up the door to a career for a lifetime. I continue to grow in skills. I continue to build a platform designed to help others. Alliant prepared me to be a successful therapist.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?

A: I work with a diverse population. I love this. I love learning about and supporting clients from different backgrounds. It keeps me on my toes, and it keeps me humble. I never know everything. I continue to research. I continue to attend trainings that expand my knowledge and skills and I continue to consult with other therapist, including former classmates. I enjoy watching clients overcome their struggles.

Q: What inspires you to make a positive difference in the world?

A: My own lived experience and my ability to overcome so many obstacles make me believe that a little help (from others) goes a very long way. The fact of the matter is that people helped me and the support I received changed the trajectory of my life. I want to be the same positivity that I received. I want to provide the same hope.

Q: Do you have advice for current students interested in your field/profession?

A: As long as you keep your "why" in front of you, you will reach your goal. Even when things get tough... even when you want to give up... just remember why you are pursuing your education and enjoy the ride. It will all be worth it.
