Alliant would like to thank I-MERIT and the many members of our faculty and staff for supporting our fundraiser for Oaxacan children in need. A special thanks to Dr. Jason Platt and Dr. Janie Pinterits for leading the fundraiser. We raised enough to give every child a school backpack, paint for their classrooms and other educational supplies.

The fundraiser was part of the CSPP Spanish Language, Class and Cultural Immersion program. In addition to running a number of different therapeutic and educational programs, students work with children in rural communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca is one of the states with the greatest poverty and most extreme marginalization in Mexico. Over 22% of the population is illiterate and 45% have not completed a high school education.

Thanks to all of you who supported our students in the cultural immersion program this year. We had students from almost every U.S. campus attend. A video of some of their activities can be viewed here.

For more information about the program visit the Spanish Language, Class and Cultural Immersion page and for all other CSPP information visit the CSPP homepage.
