Dr. Sean D. Davis, associate professor and site director, CSPP-SAC, recently published the following articles:

  • Blow, A. J., Davis, S. D., & Sprenkle, D. H. (2012). Therapist worldview: A fruitless dialogue without more evidence. Journal of Marital and Family Therapy.

A cornerstone of our common factors is that a therapist should match his or her approach to the client's worldview. Simon argues that it is more important that a therapist practices congruently from their own worldview. This article is a rejoinder to Simon's claim.

  • Woolley, S. R., Wampler, K. S., & Davis, S. D. (2012). Enactments in couple therapy: Identifying therapist interventions associated with positive change. Journal of Family Therapy.

A quantitative investigation about the effects of enactments, a common intervention in couple therapy.

Dr. Bernardo M. Ferdman, professor, CSPP-SD, published a focal article, co-authored with Lilach Sagiv of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in the September 2012 issue of Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, which looks at the similarities, differences and interconnections between diversity in organizations and cross- cultural work psychology. The peer-reviewed article, “Diversity in Organizations and Cross- Cultural Work Psychology: What if They Were More Connected?” is followed by nine commentaries and a response from Ferdman and Sagiv, "The Value of Connecting Diversity in Organizations and Cross-Cultural Work Psychology Through Dialogue and Multiplicity.Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, published by Wiley, is the journal of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Additionally, Dr. Ferdman presented the workshop, “Global Benchmarks for Diversity & Inclusion,” at the Workplace Diversity Practice and Research Conference held at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, in June. While there, he served on the Advisory Committee for the annual conference, which brings together researchers and practitioners specializing in diversity. Further, Dr. Ferdman, commenced his term as chair of the Academy of Management’s Diversity and Inclusion Theme Committee, which is charged with helping to ensure that the Academy— which has over 19,000 members from 109 nations—fully supports and leverages the scholarly contributions of its members and contributes to their professional development. At this year’s meeting of the Academy in Boston, in August, Ferdman made the following presentations:

Dr. Debra Kawahara received the Pioneer Award from the American Psychological Association's (APA) Division 35, Section 5 this summer at the APA Annual Convention.

Dr. Rodney L. Lowman, distinguished professor, CSPP-SD has been honored to receive a new post-doctoral Fellowship that was established in his name by the Leadership Worth Following (LWF) consulting group. Read more.

Dr. Saba Ozyurt assistant professor of international studies for CSML-SD was appointed new program director of CSML’s undergraduate business program. 

Dr. Kristi Samuelson, associate professor, CSPP-SF, published the following invited review:

Dr. Ed Shenk, program director and associate professor, CSOE-SF will be leading a presentation at the National Association Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) 5/6 Regional Conference in Kona, Hawaii this November. His proposal was one of 66 accepted out of 267 submitted. One of his co-presenters, Dr. Sabrina Sanders, is a graduate of the doctorate of education, educational leadership and management program and Dr. Shenk was her chair.

Dr. Danny Wedding, CSPP associate dean for management and international programs, presented a half-day workshop on the portrayal of psychopathology in contemporary cinema at the Cambodian Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) this month. Dr. Wedding also met with University leaders to discuss scholarship support for a second Cambodian student interested in obtaining a PhD from CSPP. Upon leaving Cambodia, Dr. Wedding went on to Hong Kong to teach psychopathology for the CSPP PsyD program there, which is directed by Dr. Alex Leung.
