Spring 2013 Alumni Updates

Dr. Benjamin Caldwell  (CSPP-SD, MFT PsyD, 04 & current CSPP-LA faculty member), spoke to our CFT Irvine scholarship recipients at our Dean’s Scholarship Reception in Irvine April 15. Dr. Caldwell is also involved with AAMFT-CA and shared some of his experience and wisdom with our Irvine scholarship recipients.

Dr. Sam Keo (CSPP-Irvine and CSPP-SD, Clinical PsyD ’99) shares, “My book Out of the Dark – Into the Garden of Hope, was recently published. This book would not be possible without the encouragement from my 1994 classmates at Irvine campus.” Dr. Keo recently opened his private practice to serve the underserved in Long Beach, and as the article said, he “is one of few clinical psychologists in the Southland with intimate and first-hand understanding of the Cambodian-American experience and the mental disorders…suffered by the many refugees and genocide survivors and their families.”  Dr. Keo was also interviewed on Voice of America.

Dr. Marcia Michaels, former Site Director of our Irvine CFT program, is now the Site Director of our new San Francisco CFT program (see SF section below).

Dr. Laura Steele (CSPP-Irvine, MFT PsyD ’06) is the Dean of the College of Psychology and Counseling at Hope International University
