MAE in School Psychology with Pupil Personnel Services Credential

The pupil personnel services credential in educational psychology online degree is a 60-credit program and takes a minimum of 26 months to complete, over 13 terms.

The program is designed to prepare you to work as a school psychologist in public schools across the state of California. After graduating and collecting experience for three year, youare eligible to make a test and become a licensed educational psychologist. School Psychologists can be directly hired or work through a hiring firm on a contract. Licensed Educational Psychologists are able to provide their services for a fee outside of public school systems.

Students may qualify for the PPS-only option if they already hold a master’s degree in a related field (counseling, MFT, counseling psychology, special education, etc.). We ask prospective students to fill out a transfer credit evaluation form and submit a copy of their transcripts to determine if they qualify. However, the program is the same.

You must be available to complete 450 practicum hours during the typical public school hours beginning in your second term. You must complete 1200 internship hours during typical public school hours beginning about one year after you begin the program.

All coursework for the MAE in school psychology with pupil personnel services credential program can be completed online, allowing you to tailor your education to your schedule. The internship and field work must be completed in person at a school site.
