Bio and Links

Dr. Heide is co-founder, founding board president, board member, artistic advisor, playwright, and performer for American Folklore Theatre (AFT) in Fish Creek, WI, described by Money Magazine (2001) as "one of the top regional theatres in the country." AFT is one of the only professional theatres in America which exclusively develops and performs original musicals, keeping prices low to reach a large and devoted family audience. Among the 15+ shows Dr. Heide has co-created are the sci-fi football musical Packer Fans From Outer Space and the metaphysical musical comedy Belgians in Heaven (both with Lee Becker and James Kaplan). These shows incorporate social learning principles to promote positive social behavior. Dr. Heide's works have been seen by over 100,000 people. Shows created at AFT have been performed at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and in Denver, Dallas, Detroit, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Massachusetts, Oregon, New York, California, and elsewhere. Dr. Heide has studied and co-created several shows with Paul Sills, founding director of Chicago's Second City Theatre.
