Biography
My early career and educational work began in San Francisco, CA where I attended San Francisco State University, earning a BA in Developmental Psychology with a minor in Family Relations in 1996. To gain experience working with children, including those with disabilities, I worked for and volunteered at various child and youth organizations. I entered the field of school psychology in 1998 as an intern in Peekskill, NY, completing my MA, and NY and CA credentials, in School Psychology in 1999 from Marist University (formerly Marist College). I was a school psychologist in an urban, Northern California school district beginning in August 1999 until December 2018. In addition to the work of a school psychologist, I also provided professional development to teachers and school psychologists and supported interns and practicum students. Further, I was a part of many different committees developed to bring change to the department. I transitioned to the Special Education Director of Related Services, Psychological and Mental Health position in January 2019 in the same urban district. I continue to work for this district, which only adds to my teaching practices as an adjunct professor. I earned my Doctorate of Psychology in Educational Psychology in May 2011 through Alliant and earned my Administrative Services Credential in December 2021 through National University. During the summers of 2013 and 2014, I taught for Alliant in the School of Education, School Psychology Program and returned to teaching for Alliant in May 2024.
