Dr. Kia Yang, PsyD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Clinical Psychology PsyD Program at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Fresno. She is a licensed clinical psychologist at Valley Health Team- Kerman Unified School District, a rural school-based and integrated behavioral health center. She supervises doctoral practicum students in psychological assessment and multicultural clinical practice.
Dr. Yang’s private practice specializes in culturally responsive and equity-driven psychological assessment, trauma treatment, cultural and intergenerational stress, and refugee and immigrant mental health. Her clinical and academic work is anchored in multicultural psychology, decolonizing therapeutic practices that honor cultural identity, collective healing, and intergenerational resilience. Dr. Yang has participated in community-based mental health advocacy, education, and research by contributing to regional efforts to expand mental health literacy and equity for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
Dr. Yang’s research interest includes community-based participatory research to inform culturally responsive psychological assessment and treatment for diverse communities including neuroscience, integrative and holistic care, and interventions to address trauma and PTSD.

Dr. Yang’s scholarship centers mental-health equity. She has presented her work at regional and national conferences, including APA, WPA, and AAPA. She has spoken on Hmong mental health, trauma, and integrated behavioral healthcare. Dr. Yang also contributes to public scholarship through workshops and podcast interviews amplifying culturally grounded and community-centered approaches to healing. Her work-in-progress book, Freedom from the Feed, weaves together themes of digital wellness, self-reflection, and mindful approaches to mental-health care.
