Biography
I am passionate in helping my fellow educators to be better equipped for challenges that they will face in the modern educational setting. I obtained her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education at Minnesota State University-Moorhead. Later I moved to Texas, where I acquired my first Master Degree in Education in Advanced Literacy, while teaching Special Education for Leander School District. Later, I returned to Minnesota. While I was teaching, I was also earning my certification in Special Education centering around students with Emotional Behavior Disorders (Minnesota wouldn’t accept my Texas Special Education Degree). During the time I was finishing up this certification, I was able to secure a special education position at a school in the clinical setting. This opportunity has allowed me to have an unique understanding of children that have been affected by trauma. I was trained in Life Space Crisis Intervention to better work with these students. These children also, often need extra support to learn, especially in the area of Reading which is a needed tool in all subject areas. Therefore, I returned to academia to gain more understanding around literacy by earning another Master of Education in this area. This Master Degree was obtained from Southern New Hampshire University and is Curriculum focused in Language Based Learning Disabilities, including Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and Dyslexia. I since obtaining these degrees, I have also been trained in the LETRS Literacy Program, as well as OL&OA (The Online Literacy & Language Academy). Besides Alliant University, I am a Special Education Teacher in one of the top High Schools in the State of Minnesota.
