Certificate in California Teachers of English Learners (CTEL), Leading to CLAD Certificate
Meet the world in your classroom.
CTEL and CLAD Certification Overview
If you are looking to earn your cross-cultural language and academic development certification, this online CLAD and CTEL certification program can provide you with the education you need for a successful career as an English teacher.
Diversity and multiculturalism are at the core of our CTEL teaching credential programs which lead to CLAD certification. To be an expert level teacher, you’ll need to learn how to effectively teach children from many different backgrounds; that’s why the CTEL program and (CLAD) certificate is so important. These advanced level certifications authorize two types of instructions: English language development (ELD) and Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE).
- English language development, also known as English as a second language (ESL) or teaching English to
speakers of other languages (TESOL), is mainly aimed to promote the acquisition of listening, speaking,
reading, and writing skills of the student. - Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE) is designed to increase the level of
comprehensibility of the English language in any subject matter, such as math or social science.
For more detailed information, please refer to the CTC website.
With the CTEL certificate and CLAD program for California teacher candidates, you’ll prepare to meet state requirements and learn to approach the challenges of teaching a diverse group of students with trained ease. This teaching credential can provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to teach English learners from different backgrounds.
