Tina Moncada, Director of Military and Veterans Affairs at Alliant International University
On October 8, 2013, Tina Moncada, director of Military and Veterans Affairs at Alliant International University, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran, participated as a panelist at the Women Veterans In Transition Expo hosted by the National Veterans Transition Services Inc. (NVTSI), at Liberty Station Conference Center, in San Diego.
The Women Veterans Expo was designed to connect women transitioning from military service and female veterans with more than 53 employers, businesses, and organizations who seek to give back to those who have served in the armed forces. Part of which, was a panel highlighting Moncada and other successful female veterans from different branches of service, where they shared their experiences and answered questions. Navy Captain Gisele M. Bonitz, executive assistant and chief of staff, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, was also featured as the keynote speaker.
In conjunction with the expo, a women veterans-only workshop took place from October 7-25, 2013. The workshop emphasized connecting women veterans with resources meeting their specific needs. A segment entitled, "How To Select a College and Financing Your Education", and facilitated by Moncada was held on October 22, 2013.
"There are a lot of great resources out there for women veterans but a lot of them don't know where to find the resources. The expo and workshops are designed to help them do that while empowering them to succeed," said NVTSI President and Executive Director, Maurice Wilson.
