Dissertation on Gratitude Journaling Wins $10,000 Research Award

Congratulations to Suzan Ahmed, a doctoral student in Alliant’s California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in San Diego, who was awarded a $10,000 dissertation research award through the University of California, Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center.

Ahmed’s project, “The Effects of Gratitude Journaling on Levels of Parenting Stress, Affect, Mood, Well-Being and Self-Compassion in Parents of Young Children,” will examine the positive impact of gratitude on parent stress, psychopathology, well-being and levels of self-compassion. Dr. Kristen Mano, a core faculty member of CSPP in San Diego is the dissertation chair.

The Greater Good Science Center’s dissertation awards support young researchers in the study of gratitude and its translational impact in one of the following areas: gratitude and health, gratitude and youth, gratitude in social contexts and gratitude in practice.
