Undergraduate Psychology Students Present Colloquium at International Conference on Health, Wellness, and Society
Faculty in Alliant’s Department of Undergraduate Psychology Dr. Daniel Blumberg, along with four recent graduates of the psychology bachelor’s program, presented a well-attended and well-received 90-minute colloquium at the 3rd International Conference on Health, Wellness, and Society in Sao Paulo, Brazil on March 15, 2013.
Based on the students’ undergraduate senior theses, Dr. Blumberg designed and chaired the colloquium, which was titled “Four Innovative Health and Wellness Programs for At-Risk Juveniles.”
- Tiffany Abbey presented “Preventing Intimate Partner Violence: A healthy relationships training program for pre-adolescents”
- “The Impact of Mindfulness Training on Anxiety and Depression Reduction in Recovering Juvenile Alcohol and Drug Abusers” was based on the work of Federico Escobedo
- Renatta Escobedo presented “The Effects of Expressive Arts Therapy on Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy in Homeless Youth”
- John Gilbert presented “Exercising the Mind: Reducing Depression and Substance Abuse in Adolescents”
