Jump start your career as a licensed marriage and family therapist with Alliant’s Fast Track M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy program. This accelerated Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program reduces the time it takes to earn an MFT degree by allowing undergraduate students to take graduate-level psychology courses.

In the Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy program, students participate in theoretical and practical skill-based training that focuses on relationships and interaction patterns. This accelerated MFT degree program is ideal for students who want to provide counseling to individuals and families in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, educational institutions, social service agencies, churches and private practice.

The Fast-Track M.A. in Marriage and Family degree is currently available to undergraduate students in the following programs:

How Fast-Track Works

During the senior year of their undergraduate studies, students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are given the option to enter into the Fast-Track M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy program. Students who choose this option will spend the final semester of their undergraduate program taking three bridge courses – upper-level psychology courses that count toward completion of both the undergraduate degree and the MFT degree.

By the time students enter the Marriage and Family Master’s program, they will have completed 9 of the required units necessary to graduate, leaving only 51 remaining units. With this accelerated degree program you can reduce the number of semesters it takes to earn both your undergraduate and graduate degree. Even better? Your semester of bridge courses will be billed at the undergraduate tuition rate, meaning you’ll save money on the cost of your Master’s.

Bridge Psychology Courses

Whether you’re in the Bachelor’s in Child Development program or the Bachelor’s in Psychology program, if you choose to enroll in the accelerated MFT degree program, you will take the following three bridge courses:

  • Individual and Family Life Cycle
  • MFT Research Methods
  • Family CD

A grade of a B or above is required for transferring into the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program.
