2013 Dean’s Scholarship Receptions
This Spring, the CSPP community came together at each campus to recognize and celebrate this year’s student scholarship recipients. Thanks to the generous contributions of our CSPP alumni and friends, along with our mission-driven scholarship earmarks, we were able to provide almost $2 million in scholarship support to over 425 students this year.
Each of the campus receptions celebrated student accomplishments and brought the community together in a different way. In Sacramento, Dr. Amy Ahfeld, CSPP alumna and President of the Sacramento Valley Psychological Association, spoke about her experience after graduating from CSPP, the value of getting involved in professional associations while you are a student, and other words of wisdom. In Fresno, CSPP alumna and San Joaquin Valley Psychological Association President-Elect Dr. Marcelle Pratt spoke about the challenges and opportunities for psychologists, and shared tips on how to take leadership roles in the community both locally and statewide.
In San Francisco, we honored our scholarship recipients and celebrated the retirement of Professor Emeritus Dr. Paul Werner, after more than 30 years of service on the CSPP faculty. We also announced the new Paul Werner Dissertation Award for Innovation and Creativity.
All of the events were excellent opportunities for our CSPP community to spend time together celebrating scholarship, connecting generations of CSPP alumni, students and friends, and enjoying an informal gathering.
Congratulations once again to this year’s CSPP scholarship recipients!
