Doctor of Psychology in Educational Psychology

School psychologist meets with a student.

You’ve encouraged, supported, and nurtured. You’ve understood where others have misjudged. You’ve dedicated your life to the health and happiness of our children in ways that not even we as parents could.

Now let’s see what more you can do.

The PsyD in Educational Psychology Program at Alliant International University’s California School of Education will open new doors of opportunity for you. Doors you will then hold open for the children and families you serve each day.

Please be aware that this program is designed for those already in possession of a PPS credential in school counseling or a PPS credential in school psychology, and is a requirement for admission. If you are interested in earning a PPS credential, Alliant offers programs that will help you earn one.

Coursework in psychopharmacology, developmental psychopathology, and behavior interventions help fine-tune your understanding of what makes a child tick—and how you can help them reach their fullest potential, regardless of their circumstance. Multicultural classes ensure you can support the mosaic of diverse students in your classrooms. Alliant offers a unique blend of on-campus (San Diego, Los Angles, San Francisco) and online PsyD coursework which empowers students to make true change in the field. So you can go on to lead assessment, evaluation, and treatment plans in government, non-profit, and private organizations at the local, state, or national level.

So you can better develop your own life’s devotion, and unfold a brighter future, one child at a time.

Learning with Purpose

A doctorate degree speaks for itself. It opens doors – and minds. But the PsyD in Educational Psychology Program has a distinct set of outcomes designed to instill more than a set of skills, it will become the foundation upon which you will build your repertoire of expertise.

Master Your Trade. Know when it’s time to step in using educational psychology interventions, developmental psychopathology, an understanding of psychopharmacology, and knowledge as it applies to your area of focus.

Optimize Your Impact. By program’s end, you’ll understand the varied roles and where you can optimize your impact as an educational psychologist at the doctoral level.

Achieve Expertise. Whether it’s qualitative research methodologies, program development, or process evaluation, you can become a true expert in the field.

Expand Opportunity: New techniques, in-depth research, and expansive focus areas enable you to become a confident guide on the path toward growth and perpetual improvement. Whether that path leads to a role as an internal expert or as an independent consultant, you can use your education to help your communities thrive.

Your Future, In Focus

Our PsyD in Educational Psychology Program will arm you with expertise that goes beyond the basics. Here, we will introduce you to a variety of topics that will not only enhance your education, but will provide you with the skills you need to better help a wider variety of students, and better equip you to make an impact through your educational career.

Our students will explore:

  • Human Diversity: Sociocultural Influences on the Developing Child
  • Adolescent Development and Intervention
  • Multicultural Counseling
  • Behavior Interventions and Crisis Management in the Classroom
  • Advanced School-based Research Design, Program Development, and Evaluation

The Advantage of Advancement

An advanced degree can open a world of opportunity. Most post-secondary teaching positions require a doctorate level of education. Developing and conducting ground-breaking research often requires a doctorate level of education. Even the opportunity to broaden your professional prospects within the field of education increases with a higher degree.

There are many advantages to getting a doctorate in educational psychology. But for many lifelong learners, there’s nothing like the personal satisfaction of being challenged on an intellectual and personal level, and leaving a lasting impact in every community you touch.

So, what’s your advantage?
