Wisdom Healing and the Suffering of the Body
March 1 | 6-8:30 PM | Green Hall
Presented by Alliant’s Center for Integrative Psychology. Wisdom traditions are as old as the angst of human life. Wisdom can help alleviate suffering, and suffering can lead us to wisdom. Engaging deeply in the practices of wisdom traditions can take people deeper than intellect, thereby providing healing on many levels, especially when someone is in crisis. The evening’s discussions will integrate: the origins and principles of Taoist qi gong practices; current NIH research on its psychological and biomedical benefits; and a new framework for understanding the spiritual/existential development that can be spurred by frank engagement with chronic, presumably fatal, illness. A highlight of the evening will be a simple, interactive qi gong group practice by a master teacher. Seating is limited; RSVP to reserve a seat at www.integrativepsychology.net. Professional 2.5 Hrs/ CE Certificate $35. Event begins with a wine and cheese reception.
