Western Carolina University (WCU) seeks a Staff Psychologist to work at Counseling & Psychological Services. The responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling, walk-in/triage services, initial assessments, supervision of graduate level trainees, crisis intervention, clinical consultation with other health providers, and outreach programming.
Minimum Requirements: A doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (ABD will also be considered with expectation of completed degree within one year of hire date) and completion of an AAPIC-accredited internship. The position requires excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and clinical therapy experience with a young adult population. The candidate must be licensed or license eligible in North Carolina.
CAPS is a department within the Health & Wellness Unit at WCU. As such, the provision of services is done within an integrated health framework. The multidisciplinary staff at CAPS consists of psychologists, professional counselors and a social worker. Additionally, there is a part time Licensed Nurse Practitioner to offer psychiatric services. WCU is a public university and one of 17 institutions within the UNC system. WCU is located near the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and offers numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation.
