THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO invites applications for two Clinical Research Psychologists (FTEs) at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center. These VA-salary-supported positions are open rank, to be appointed at a level commensurate with experience (Assistant to Full), in the Adjunct or In Residence series, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2015 or thereafter.

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-approved doctoral program
• APA-approved internship
• License eligible; candidate must be licensed by the California Board of Psychology within two years of hire
• Demonstrated clinical, educational, research, and leadership with strong dedication to translational and clinical research
• Demonstrated record of successful extramural funding (strongly desired)

• Anticipated allocation of effort to 50% clinical/administrative responsibilities within the San Francisco VA Medical Center Mental Health Service, and 50% effort devoted to a well-funded extramural research program
• Develop and lead a strong clinical and academic program addressing the mental health needs of veterans, along with a successful independent program in clinical or translational research, with a focus on either: (1) Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, with an emphasis on motivational interviewing or primary care-mental health integration; or (2) Psychosocial Recovery and Rehabilitation services for individuals with serious or persistent mental illness (more information on programs are available at and
• Develop effective collaborations with established investigators at UCSF and the surrounding community
• Engage in innovation and continual improvements in clinical, research, and educational programs
• Perform direct patient care as needed
• Participate in teaching, supervision, and assessment of trainees, including advanced Psychology pre- and post-doctoral fellows, and collaborate with training program directors in clinical and research curricular development for medical students, residents, psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students in a variety of disciplines
• Participate in University and/or Public service
