Alliant International University has been granted an award of $150,000 from The Rose Hills Foundation so that Dr. Susan Regas, CSPP-LA distinguished professor of clinical psychology, can continue the Family Support Services (FSS) program that she and Dr. John Bakaly and Dr. Ronda Doonan, CSPP-LA associate professors of clinical psychology, established in 2010 in conjunction with the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (LARMH). FSS embeds clinical psychology practicum students, interns and postdoctoral fellows in the daily activities of LARMH, providing behavioral expertise and emotional support for families and LARMH staff. FSS also reaches families through Fun Clubs, which provide state-of-the-art support and therapeutic activities. Last year, FSS provided individual, couple and family support to over 1,100 families, as well as hosted over 700 Fun Club activity groups (led by G1 volunteers) each with 5-10 children or adults. In the coming grant cycle, FSS has expanded from Los Angeles RMH to Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, Pasadena RMH and Stanford RMH. This award will fund intern and postdoctoral fellow stipends, FSS events and Fun Club activities and training materials.
