The Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Doctoral Intern to join our Master of Family Therapy (MFT) Program on the Macon campus. MUSM provides training in the biopsychosocial/spiritual model and a family systems perspective for physicians and other health care providers. The MFT program is a deeply rooted, integral part of MUSM, for the past twenty-five years training both M FT and Medical students to Fulfill the schools mission of preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and medically undeserved areas of Georgia. The department faculty is multi-disciplinary and provides a positive, supportive, and collegian atmosphere, The department also interfaces with other clinical departments and the basic science faculty of the medical school.

Eligibility requirements:

• An earned master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, or its equivalent from a regionally accredited university

• Doctoral candidate in a COAMFTE accredited program in marriage and family family therapy

• At least 500 hours of clinical experience in the practice of marriage and family therapy

• Al least 100 hours of AAMFT approved supervision of the practice of marriage and family therapy

Responsibilities of the position are: to teach M FT courses to serve as a clinical supervisor to MFT students, to contribute to governance or the Mercer MFT program by participating in regular faculty meetings, admissions decisions, curriculum reviews, clinical evaluations of students, and/or special committees as needed (i.e.. faculty/staff hiring interviews) to serve as a student-centered academic and professional development mentor to students.

Stipend$18,00 for 12 months

• Major medical and dental insurance for intern (dependents can be covered at interns expense)

$750 conference allowance (if presenting)

Supervision

• Supervision will be provided for intern bv AAMFT Approved Supervisors

Period of Appointment

• August I 2016—July 31″ 2017
