The I-MERIT campus committees recognized the following individuals for their outstanding service during the 2011-2012 academic year with I-MERIT awards. Congratulations!
- Liang-Ying Chou, assistant professor in Irvine
Professor Kyle Boone, PhD, CSFS-LA will present a "Professional Issues" course at the 32nd Annual Conference of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, to be held in November. Additionally, she released a new book in October entitled, Clinical Practice of Forensic Neuropsychology: An Evidence-Based Approach, a hands-on guide describing how to conduct comprehensive forensic neuropsychological evaluations and provide expert testimony.
Dr. Steven F. Bucky, PhD, ABPP, distinguished professor and director of professional training, CSPP-SD, has been appointed to the California Psychological Association’s Ethics Committee beginning on November 1, 2012.
Dr. Sean Davis, associate professor and site director, CSPP-SAC, had the article, “Therapist-worldview Matching: Not as Important as Matching to Clients,” published in the June 2012 edition of the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, the top journal in the field.
Dr. Dale Glaser, principal lecturer and advanced statistics mentor, CSPP-SD, has the following recent publication in Medical Education:

Dr. Robert-Jay Green, executive director of Alliant's Rockway Institute for LGBT Psychology and distinguished professor, CSPP-SF, was invited to be the guest editor for a special five article section of the journal Family Process on the topic of LGBT couples and families. Additionally, Dr. Green and Salvatore D'Amore, PhD, a professor at the University of Liege in Belgium and a recent visiting scholar at the Rockway Institute, were invited by the well-known publisher Editions du Seuil (Paris) to write a book in French on the topic of LGBT families in therapy.
The Community Academy program, founded and led by Dr. Dawn Griffin, was this year’s proud winner of the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s “Inspiration Award for Employment.” Provost Russ Newman and Dr. Griffin, director of the Department of Undergraduate Psychology, received the award at an awards ceremony held this month. Other winners this year included Police Chief William Lansdowne of the San Diego Police Department and Kenny Goldberg reporter for KPBS. The Community Academy program assists individuals with “lived experience” as they move into higher education and the workforce in the field of public mental health. Dr. Griffin and her staff began taking individuals into this program in May 2011. In partnership with Recovery Innovations of California, the Family and Youth Roundtable and the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the aim is to provide program participants training, support, vocational assistance, and field practice experience.
Debora Mondellini, adjunct professor, CSPP-MC, recently organized an “encuentro” for undergraduate and first and second year master’s in counseling psychology students there. The event featured the Cruz- Valdivieso family, Mexican psychologists who adapted family therapy theories, collaborative approaches and community psychology in their work with Oaxacan indigenous communities. An article by Beverly J. Palley, EdD, assistant professor, CSOE-SAC, entitled, "Mentoring New Faculty Women of Color at Predominately White Institutions," was published in the Summer 2012 edition of the online journal iJournal.

Dr. Lynne Valek, visiting associate professor, CSPP-FR, has recently served as a member of a team of editors for the Handbook for Strategic HR: Best practices in Organization Development produced by the OD Network and published in 2012. The handbook includes 78 articles from renowned OD Practitioner, the quarterly journal of the international association, Organizational Development Network. The book introduces readers to core organization development strategies and skills, giving them creative approaches, practical tips, and proven methods to help them.
