Insight Into Diversity Honors Alliant International University with 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award

2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity award Today, Alliant International University received the 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine–the university’s third consecutive year as a recipient.

The HEED award is the only national award recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. As a recipient of the annual award, Alliant will be featured along with other selected recipients in INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine’s November 2014 issue.

Alliant was selected for this award based on the university’s exemplary diversity and inclusion initiatives and ability to embrace a broad definition of diversity on campus, including gender, race, ethnicity, veterans, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community.

Alliant has long-standing record of diversity and is regularly recognized for it. Most recently, Alliant Provost Russ Newman, PhD was a recipient of the Diversity Visionary Award for his steadfast dedication to educating students with the intercultural competency necessary to solve real-world problems in diverse communities here in the U.S. and around the world. Alliant has also repeatedly been recognized as a Military Friendly School, a Best for Vets College, and as a Top 100 Producer of Minority Graduate Degrees. This is in addition to being one of only eight universities chosen to participate in the American Council on Education’s “At Home in the World” project and countless awards and grants won by students and faculty for their work focused on diversity and inclusion.
