 The Texas State Counseling Center has an opening for a full-time, 12 month Staff Psychologist position.

 Position Description
Provides individual and group counseling/therapy for personal, psychological, and adjustment issues; provides crisis intervention; conducts some psychological assessment as part of the therapeutic process; develops and implements educational workshops; consults with faculty and staff regarding student problems, training, program and organizational issues; works collaboratively with other departments in Student Affairs to provide quality services to students; conducts Counseling Center staff development seminars; represents the Counseling Center on Division and University committees and task teams and participates in Student Affairs programs as assigned.

The Counseling Center has an APA accredited doctoral internship program in psychology.  The individual in this position will supervise doctoral interns and practicum students and will participate in training activities as assigned by the Director of Training.

Doctoral level training in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program; completion of a 12 month APA accredited internship, preferably in a college/university counseling center; completion of a 12 month supervised post-doctoral experience by start date; licensed or license eligible to practice psychology in Texas. Additional experience in a college/university counseling center preferred.  Other preferred qualifications include experience supervising doctoral interns or practicum students, interest in working with diverse college student populations in a university setting, skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: men’s issues, Latino populations, male veterans, alcohol/substance abuse, the application of technology in college/university counseling centers, Educational Programing/Outreach, and/or complex mental health issues.

Salary:  $4,333 + commensurate with experience

The University:
The Counseling Center is part of the Division of Student Affairs. The Counseling Center is administratively linked with Career Services and the Student Health Center under the overall direction of the Director of the Counseling Center/Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. The Counseling Center operates primarily on a developmental, brief therapy model. The professional staff consists of the Director, who is a psychologist, an Associate Director/Supervising Psychologist who is also Director of Training, an Assistant Director for Clinical Services/Senior Psychologist, an Assistant Director for Education and Outreach/Supervising Counselor, an Assistant Training Director/Supervising Psychologist, two Psychologists, a Supervising Counselor, a Case Manager, two postdoctoral residents, and three doctoral interns. The Center typically has three doctoral level practicum students each academic year. Texas State University is a four-year, comprehensive doctoral granting public university with an enrollment of over 35,000 students. The University is located in the scenic Texas Hill Country, approximately 25 miles south of Austin, at the headwaters of the San Marcos River in the community of San Marcos, between Austin and San Antonio.
