Prof. Nurcan Ensari, Ph.D.

Program Director, Los Angeles

Prof. Ensari had a recent publication with her colleagues from San Francisco State University, and University of Texas at San Antonio.

Boyd, M., Kim, M., Ensari, N., Yin, Z. (2014). Perceived motivational team climate in relation to task and social cohesion    among male college athletes. Journal of Applied Social Psychology,     44, 115–123.

Prof. Ensari presented a webinar on “Getting From College to Career in Organizational Psychology” in February.

She also moderated a round table discussion on “Identifying Barriers to Women's Career Advancement” at the Women’s Conference organized by CSPP, Los Angeles on March 15th.

 

Bernardo Ferdman, Ph.D.

Professor, San Diego

Dr. Ferdman gave a colloquium on “The Practice of Inclusion” in our Los Angeles campus.

His session "The Language of Inclusion (and Exclusion) at the AOM: An Interactive Workshop on the Power of Words", has been accepted by the All Academy Theme (AAT) program for the 2014 Academy of Management Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to be held on August 3, 2014. Co-chairs/co-organizers are Stella Nkomo (University of Pretoria) and Ilene Wasserman (ICW Consulting Group).

He and his colleagues recently presented an article:

On March 27, he was an invited presenter and panelist at the University of Maryland’s 1st Annual Conference on Racial Identity Development (along with Bill Cross, Rita Hardiman, Perry Horse, Barbara Love, Janelle Wong, and Marybeth Gasman). He gave a concurrent workshop, “Latina and Latino Ethnoracial Identity Orientations,” and then participated in a panel discussion with the other speakers.

On March 12, he delivered an invited webinar for the National OD Network, The Practice of Inclusion: Implications for OD Practitioners, as part of its monthly professional development series. Prof. Hoffman gave a Colloquium presentation on the assessment profiles of employees in the police department.

“Process Redesign of a Consent Decree-Based Police Promotional System” Presented on November 2013.

 

Rodney Lowman, Ph.D.

Distinguished Professor, San Diego

Prof. Lowman gave three invited presentations at the University of Houston – Clear Lake in January. The titles were:

“Role of the Master’s Degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology“

“Ethical and Legal Issues in the Practice of Industrial-Organizational Psychology”

 

Professor John Renner, Ph.D.

CSPP Organizational Psychology Program

Prof. Renner presented a special webinar on knowing more about Industrial and Organizational (I-O) psychology, what I-O psychologists do, what career paths are available, salaries and job prospects for this field, and how to choose and apply for the best schools.

McGarvey, M & Goldman Schuyler, K. (2014). Ethical leadership and contemplation.  Caucus accepted for presentation at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, Philadelphia.

She will lead two informal discussion round-tables at the American Sociological Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, in August.

Goldman Schuyler, K. (2014) Practicing sociology outside our imaginary walls. Roundtable accepted for presentation at the American Sociological Association Annual Meeting, San Francisco.

Goldman Schuyler, K. & Baugher, J.E. (2014) Sociological mindfulness and altruism: The interdependence of presence, praxis, and societal change. Roundtable accepted for presentation at the American Sociological Association Annual Meeting, San Francisco.

Prof. Goldman-Schuyler's book for the International Leadership Association's main book series will be published in July by Jossey Bass:  Leading with Spirit, Presence, and Authenticity.  She was recently selected to edit their 2016 volume.

Lisa Keith, PsyD

Fresno Campus Alumni 2013

Has been interviewed by writers for Huffpost and PsychCentral-Everyday Health regarding her work in mental health and her dissertation.  A third interview is from BP Hope Magazine that hopes to contact her for a series of interviews on her experiences with having bipolar and completing her dissertation work.  Dr. Keith's dissertation is titled A Phenomenological study of women and mental illness: Stigma and disclosure in the workplace.

 

Helen Horvath, PsyD

Received confirmation of her research dissertation being accepted by APA for presentation at their Annual Conference in Washington, DC., 2014.

Dr. William "Bill" Van Lente, MBA, PsyD (Fresno '10), accepted a position as Director, Human Resources/Risk Management at Mono County, Bridgeport, California (Government Administration).

 

Scott Boyd, Ph.D.

Los Angeles Campus Alumni 2007

Dr. Boyd published his new study in Journal of Business and Psychology with his colleagues from APTMetrics, John Scott (co-founder of APT and former president of SIOP). The topic is the measurement equivalence of pre-employment assessments on mobile vs. non-mobile devices using Best Buy's applicant pool as a sample.

Dr. Pastores, Psy.D. has been selected as the Program Consultant/Evaluator to assist San Diego and LA Counties in developing a new facility for soon to be displaced patients that are in an inpatient psychiatric setting. It will be a 3-5 year process.  The decision makers said he was selected because they liked his education in Organization Development and the research he completed in his dissertation on Conscious Capitalism and the opportunity to develop a business plan incorporating Conscious Business Values to non-profits. They felt that these values will help in meeting the needs of these clients and also the community's needs.

Brent has a new position: Lead consultant and subject matter expert for the US Mint in a complete re-organization as a result of his past work with the Treasury Department and USAID. The US Mint is in the top 100 online retailers and is re-engineering the entire on-line retail experience.

Alisha Wilkins

Alisha was appointed, by Governor Jerry Brown, to the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Alisha Wilkins has been a community and government relations manager at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest since 2003, where she has held multiple positions since 2001, including interim director of public affairs and legislative coordinator.

Ellie Honardoost

PsyD Program, Fresno Campus

Ellie has a position: Program Manager, Office of College and Career Readiness, Fresno Unified School District.  Her position focuses on working with 7 comprehensive high schools in FUSD to help with establishment of career pathways and connecting with relevant industry partners to help prepare students for college and careers. Ellie is looking forward to commencement this Spring.

William has two of his papers accepted on his dissertation for the Western Academy of Management – Chair: Dr. Kelly.

 

Nona Hall-Sandoval

Psy.D. Program, Fresno

Nona, Director of Staff Development for Telecare Corporation has accepted an adjunct faculty position with the University of Phoenix, Psychology Department in addition to her current employment with Telecare.

 

Joseph Higgins

Joseph has been awarded the Keith David Graduate Award, First Place through the Academy of Management's Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE). This was a national competition and Joseph has brought great honor to our LDR program by winning first place.
