Position Description
The UCR Counseling Center is recruiting for 3 licensed clinician positions. Two 
(2) 12-month career positions (Ph.D./Psy.D.) and one(1) limited career position 
(renewable based on funding)(Ph.D./Psy.D.).
 
The UCR Counseling Center is seeking professional licensed psychologists to 
become part of a diverse team of mental health professionals who provide 
psychological service to the UCR campus. UCR is committed to providing an

of its campus population. Within this environment, the counseling psychologist 
provides a variety of services that include: individual, couple, and group 
therapy to UCR students; crisis intervention services; consultations with 
students, staff, and faculty; outreach presentations and liaison relationships; 
provision of intern supervision/training; and opportunities for service on

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA approved 
educational program, or equivalent. California Psychologist license; and one 
year of experience as a professional psychologist.
 
Demonstrated experience providing short-term individual, couple and group 
therapy. Demonstrated experience conducting intake assessments, emergency 
assessments and providing crisis intervention. Knowledge of the developmental 
issues of college student populations.

Training and experience in counseling interventions and outreach programs to one 
of the following student populations: African American, Asian American, 
Latino/Latina, LBGT, International, or Native American. Knowledge of 
multicultural issues impacting the counseling process.
 
Demonstrated ability to do effective and interactive outreach. Demonstrated 
experience providing outreach programs in area of specialty and general mental 
health topics. Demonstrated experience training paraprofessionals in basic 
helping skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively use interpersonal skills 
while representing the department on-campus and to external units.
 
Demonstrated knowledge of professional standards, relevant laws and 
accreditation standards for University Counseling Centers
 
Ability to develop innovative approaches for preventative and developmental 
interventions
 
Knowledge and ability to use computer applications, including on-line 
information technology and electronic recordkeeping.
 
Ability to work under pressure.
 
Demonstrated experience working as a team.
 
Knowledge of and /or experience interpreting psychological and vocational tests.
 
Desired Qualifications
Strongly preferred, experience working in a university counseling center setting 
or equivalent experience working with college student age population.
 
Excellent presentation and training skills.
 
Ability to develop innovative approaches for preventative and developmental 
interventions.
 
Interest and experience working with Residence Hall community.
