Clinical/School Psychology Tenured Associate Professor or Professor  

 The Department of Human Services, Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking applicants for a tenured faculty member in the area of School and Clinical Psychology in the Clinical and School Psychology program. Duties and responsibilities include: teaching; an active, productive program of research; scholarly productivity as evidenced by publications in peer-refereed journals; and the pursuit of extramural funding for research. In addition, the faculty member is engaged in mentoring of doctoral students in research and clinical activities, and leadership and service to the program, department, school, university, and profession.

A doctorate in School Psychology or Clinical Child Psychology is required. Teaching experience in a higher education setting in courses related to the training of doctoral level psychologists is required. A commitment to professional service and leadership and evidence of an explicit commitment to diversity and of advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups is required. Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally competent mental health services is essential. Applicants must have one or more identified lines of research relevant to schools, a sustained record of publication in refereed journals, and a demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding. Knowledge of and experience in the delivery of comprehensive, school-based mental health programming for children and adolescents targeted at prevention or intervention with mental health problems is strongly preferred. School psychology or professional psychology experience in PK-12 schools is preferred. Applicants must have or be eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Virginia.

Admission to the program is highly competitive, with fewer than 5% of applicants admitted throughout the 40+ year history of the program. The program utilizes a scientist-practitioner model, with an equal emphasis on research and clinical skill acquisition.
