Description

The Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is seeking full-time Behavioral Health Consultants to join a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals in providing services to an underserved population. We have an interest in either full-time staff members or postdoctoral fellows to work within a fully-integrated, multidisciplinary model within our primary care clinics. The Behavioral Health Consultant’s duties consist of providing brief assessment, intervention, and onsite consultation to the primary care team regarding psychiatric/psychosocial concerns and health behavior change. While coordination of care is part of the job duties, a majority of the Behavioral Health Consultant’s activities will be focused  on providing clinical interventions according to empirically supported treatment modalities.  Strong applicants will have a desire to participate in program development activities as we are introducing the Primary Care Behavioral Health model clinics into who have never had these services previously.

Qualifications

Education: Doctorate in Psychology, Masters in Counseling/Clinical Psychology

Experience:

Two years in clinical service delivery with persons with mental or behavioral health needs. Previous experience working in primary care or other medical settings preferred.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Full time staff candidates must be licensed for independent clinical practice in the State of Washington/Oregon or have the necessary clinical training to acquire licensure in the State of Washington/Oregon. Postdoctoral candidates must have met all educational and practicum requirements for doctoral degree and  be scheduled for completion of internship in 2014.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Basic knowledge of psychopharmacology and medical disease states. Must be able to collaborate with medical professionals and have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced primary care environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Knowledge of Revised Codes of Washington Revised Statutes, Oregon Administrative Codes, and Washington Administrative Codes related to the provision of mental health services and general knowledge in culturally appropriate.
