What are the elements of an effective leadership development program?

What works well and what hasn’t worked?

What’s new and valuable in the realm of strengths-based leadership, innovation and change leadership?  …and what ought to be a passing fad?

Tonight’s panel discussion will tackle these challenging questions, and we’re inviting you to join us in the conversation.

Simon Sinek argued that we should start with “Why?” to develop a strong sense of purpose. Should we train leaders more on how to lead innovation, and where is that being done well? Stanford professor Jeffrey Pfeffer, in an incendiary article in McKinsey Quarterly argued that great leaders know how to use and abuse power in order to make good things happen and leadership development programs should stop being so “disconnected from reality.”

How should leadership development programs be structured? What works well and what hasn’t regarding the structure and learning delivery channels? For instance, online learning is the rage, but even recent research shows that even millennials can overdose with online learning. What are the bones of a great leadership development program? What’s critical and what’s optional?

What’s working and what’s not with regard to the newer trends in leadership development? Our panelists will discuss their experiences with strengths-based leadership, training leaders to maximize innovation and other current topics.

About Our Panelists:

Beverly L. Weise, MBA, ACC is Founder and President of Leadership Talent Solutions, an ICF-certified executive coach, and talent management consultant. She has expertise working at the individual, team and organizational systems levels across a variety of industries in all aspects of Talent Management and Leadership Development.  Prior to starting Leadership Talent Solutions, Bev was Executive Director of Interlaw Ltd., and Corporate Director of Executive Planning and Development for Northrop Grumman. She created the first companywide succession planning process for this Fortune 200 Company.  Bev facilitated the CEO’s yearlong Total Quality Management team and initiated and implemented the CEO’s annual Strategic Leadership Offsites for senior executives for four years. Bev received a B.A. (History, cum laude) from UCLA and an M.B.A. (Organizational Management) from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, and completed UCLA’s Executive Program.

Nancy Riegling, MSN, PCC is Director of Executive and Leadership Development at Kaiser Permanente Southern California.

In her current role, Nancy is responsible for design and implementation of the region-wide Leadership Development strategy for Kaiser Permanente, Southern California.  Prior to this role, Nancy served as an Executive and Organization Development Consultant for KP.  In this role, she consulted to executives in a variety of capacities, including strategic planning, change management, organization design, team and partnership development, talent assessment,  and executive coaching.  Nancy began her career as a Registered Nurse and has held a variety of roles in Health Care, including provider, educator, executive and consultant.  Nancy has her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Master’s Degree from Wayne State University and holds a certificate in Organization Development Consulting from Columbia University.  She is also a certified Executive Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
