Position: Assistant Program Coordinator, Compass Clinical Services

Organization: Compass Family Services helps homeless families and families at imminent risk for homelessness to achieve housing stability, family well-being, and self-sufficiency. We are the access point for any SF family facing a housing crisis and our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental assistance, early childhood education, mental health support, in addition to a broad spectrum of counseling, parenting education, prevention, and support services.

Program: Compass Clinical Services provides crisis intervention and trauma informed therapy to families engaged in any of the other six Compass Family Services programs. Our services reflect our understanding of the complexities of trauma as well as the range of traumatic experiences. Compass Family Services has created systems to train and support the staff on providing these trauma sensitive services to the families. Our approach involves training and education, supervision and support, attention to self-care for both the individual and the organization, attention to creating a welcoming and safe environment, and development of policies and procedures that reflect our understanding of how trauma has impacted our families.


  • * Work closely with Program Director to develop program policies and procedures for Clinical Services
  • * Work closely with staff of front door/drop-in services to assure that clinical support is available at all times
  • * Represent Compass Clinical Services at other program staff meetings as needed
  • * Provide crisis intervention to clients as needed
  • * Be available for consultation on difficult cases and phone calls
  • * Maintain a small case load of clients
  • * In conjunction with staff of Drop-in Services and Case Management, provide opportunities for staff development and training
  • * Assist Clinical Director in developing intern training program, including recruiting intern class, liaison with graduate schools, interviewing and overseeing and managing cases
  • * Provide clinical supervision to the interns and trainees, including signing off on hours for BBS and graduate schools
  • * Manage and update information for Safety Month
  • * Responsible for maintaining clinical office supplies and assist interns with all clerical needs
  • * In conjunction with Clinical Director, liaise with rest of agency for holiday and other agency-wide activities
  • * Assist with data collection/reporting
  • * Oversee program when Program Director is unavailable
  • * Other duties as assigned by Clinical Director

Minimum Qualifications:

  • * LMFT or LCSW and at least two years clinical supervision experience, California licensed clinician
  • * Experience supervising in a social service agency
  • * Experience working collaboratively with case managers and childcare providers
  • * Experience with crisis intervention, ability to handle multiple crisis situations
  • * Familiar with developmental theory, trauma informed care and integrating case management and parenting into clinical work
  • * Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
  • * Excellent organizational skills
  • * Ability to work independently, to proactively outreach to staff to discover areas where support is needed and to work collaboratively with supervisor and rest of Clinical Services team
  • * Must have knowledge of clinical and ethical practices and procedures
  • * Commitment to working on a diverse, multidisciplinary team
  • * Experience working with homeless/disenfranchised communities
  • * Experience working with individuals, families, children and groups
