Assistant or Associate Professor/PsyD Training Director – Texas

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) is an independent Catholic institution committed to providing a Christian person-centered environment.  The OLLU Psychology Department offers the following degrees: PsyD in Counseling Psychology and MS in Psychology, with concentrations in Family, Couple, and Individual Psychotherapy (FCIP) and School Psychology. The mission of the psychology graduate programs is to prepare culturally competent professionals who are skilled in providing strengths-based psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds. The psychology department operates a community-based clinic that serves a low-income, multi-ethnic, multi-problem population. The clinic offers opportunities for innovative practice, training, and research.

Applications are invited for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. Faculty appointment begins August 2014, and involves serving as the training director for our APA accredited PsyD in Counseling Psychology program, teaching graduate courses and practicum.  Additional responsibilities include advising students, engaging in research and scholarship, chairing and serving on dissertation committees, and service activities that support the institution’s mission. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program, 5 or more years of experience in academic or clinical setting, expertise in brief systemic, strengths-based approaches to psychotherapy; experience teaching and supervising graduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years of administrative experience.

Job Description

 

Essential Duties:

1.     Teach master’s and doctoral level psychology courses.

2.     Provide live supervision for MS and PsyD students in the department’s training clinic.

3.     Participation in departmental and university governance activities

 

Job Specification:

1.     Earned doctorate in Counseling Psychology

2.     Licensed in Texas as a Psychologist

3.     5 or more years of experience in academic or clinical setting

4.     Prefer experience teaching and supervising graduate students

 

Hours of employment: This is a full-time position. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the Psychology Department Chair. Some evening and Saturday hours may be required. Summer employment is optional.
