Asian Heritage Society November Events: Make It in America Conference, Annual Asian Heritage Awards, & Concert by Tina Guo

The San Diego Asian Heritage Society (SDAHS) would like to cordially invite the community to three events being held this year at the San Diego Center for the Arts in Escondido, CA. Mark November 19-23, 2014 on your calendars for the Make It in America Conference. SDAHS is honored to host seven panelists from the Alliant International University community at Make It in America! Following the conference is The 11th Annual Asian Heritage Awards, with San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts serving as chairman. 1. Make It in America Conference: Be an Agent of Change!

Make It in America is a three-and-a-half-day conference hosted in partnership with U.S. Congressman Scott Peters and the Office of San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts which brings together innovators and investors from six Asian countries and industry leaders in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside Counties to hear about common investment opportunities in biotech, pharmaceutical, and high-tech and other ways they may partner to boost the economy and create better jobs in the future.

Purpose

The purpose of the conference is to create new jobs in the region, finance innovation, form strategic partnerships, bolster the economy, support new industry, understand and market to Generation Y, meet the President’s Make It in America Challenge, focus on major global issues, make San Diego the hub of social entrepreneurship, and make “Made in the USA” mean something again.

Who

Innovators in biotech, pharmaceuticals, IT, biotechnology, robotics, bio-robotics, green technology, telecommunications, nanotechnology, computer science, medicine and public health, bio-engineering, and other cutting edge industries and overseas investors looking for opportunities and the next Facebook.

Cost

Attendance for the Make It in America Conference is now FREE thanks to the County of San Diego which will cover the cost of registration. This is good for the whole event or any portion of the four days of the conference. Students must register with Dominique De Leon at rue.dominique@gmail.com, not on the Make It in America  website.

2. The 11th Annual Asian Heritage Awards

The Asian Heritage Awards is the largest celebration of Asian achievement in California and has been acknowledged by Congress, the State of California, the federal government, the U.S. Navy, the City of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission, and the San Diego Press Club as a public service. This year’s event kicks off with an exclusive gala reception and theater performance. Proceeds from the event benefit the Asian Heritage Society’s BOOSTEM education program. The BOOSTEM program is for middle school females of Asian and Hispanic descent and its goal is to give girls a leg up on meeting future global and technological changes.
