Alliant International University has four Pillars of Excellence, and one of them is Community Engagement:

Community Engagement

Alliant’s faculty, students, alumni and staff are dedicated to making a positive difference in the world through professional education and practice. We measure the success of our university in part by the impact we have, both directly and indirectly, on the welfare of individuals, families, organizations and communities.

Below are some recent examples of how we are making a difference in our communities.

Fresno: Our Fresno staff volunteered in November at the Animal Compassion Team, where they helped play with and handle puppies, cleaned the puppy rooms, spent time with dogs and cats, lightly cleaned the counters, swept, raked and weeded the front entrance, and in general made everything look beautiful!

Irvine: For the holiday season, the Irvine campus is conducting a food drive for South Orange County Outreach, an organization that prevents hunger and homelessness by helping people help themselves.

Sacramento: Alliant-Sacramento recently raised $325 for Sacramento Stand Down, a program that assists and supports homeless veterans in the Sacramento area. This is just one of the many chapters that Stand Down has around the country. They help with medical care, personal hygiene, food, clothing, and other essential items that are hard for homeless veterans to come by. Their hope is that the money raised each year through this program will contribute to the overall sense of well being that many veterans need.

San Diego:

1) For the month of November The San Diego SVO (Student Veterans Organization) conducted a “Clothes and Toiletry” Drive for homeless Veterans.

2)For the holiday season, the San Diego Campus will be collecting gifts for preteen and teens for the Polinsky Children’s Center. The center is a 24-hour facility for the temporary emergency shelter of children who must be separated from their families for their own safety, or when parents cannot provide care. They are looking for donations of newly purchased and unwrapped toiletries/hygiene products for boys/girls such as bath accessories, lotions, shaving kits, body sprays, etc.

San Francisco: For the month of January the San Francisco Staff Council will continue to run their  donation drive to benefit Ruby’s Place. So far they have received over 260 donations! The mission of Ruby’s Place is to foster a wellness-based and culturally-responsive community providing emergency shelter and supportive services to women and children who experience domestic violence, human trafficking and homelessness. They are looking for donations of  new towels (any size, including washcloths), new twin-sized sheets and personal-sized soaps and shampoos (new / unopened), the mini-travel-sized ones that can be bought at almost any retail store (e.g., Walgreens, Longs Drugs, Target, CVS) or often given complimentary via hotel stays.  Please bring all donations to the downstairs main lobby reception area near the library entrance at the SF Campus.

Thank you to all the campuses, faculty, staff, students, and alumni that helped make this year's Alliant Makes A Difference Day and all our humanitarian efforts special! Seeing the collective impact of our Alliant community is inspiring to us all!
