SAN DIEGO–Feb 27, 2015–Alliant International University announced that it is now part of Arist Education System, a social benefit enterprise dedicated to building a global network of universities advancing the health and human sciences. Alliant joins Arist as its founding academic institution. Currently, Alliant provides bachelor's, master’s and doctoral degrees for more than 3,700 students through programs in professional psychology, education, business, criminology and law. Alliant encompasses ten locations in California, Mexico City, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Alliant President Geoffrey Cox

“Alliant’s mission is to improve health and wellness for individuals around the world through a global university that prepares healthcare and social services professionals,” said Alliant President Geoffrey Cox. “Through innovations in student assessment, learning management and content program delivery, we will create learning opportunities that are based on real-world needs and provide students with personalized support. It is this kind of innovation that the Arist network enables, so that we can prepare the next generation of professionals to address our most pressing social challenges.”

In addition to investment in learning technology and delivery, other initial areas for innovation and growth will include enhancements to student services and the expansion of program offerings on Alliant’s existing campuses and online.

“Educational institutions have an important responsibility to graduate professionals that will play a crucial role in meeting today’s most pressing healthcare challenges,” said Arist Executive Chairman David Figuli. “We are committed to building a network of quality institutions that can deliver innovative teaching and learning opportunities for students across the Americas.”

Alliant will continue to be accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), as well as maintain its specialized accreditations and approvals from organizations such as the American Psychological Association (APA), the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and the California State Bar.

As a result of this transition, Alliant will now operate as a benefit corporation, a legal structure recently made available to organizations in California. This structure allows Alliant to attract capital investments while retaining a primary commitment to the university’s social benefit mission of education and professional training. Alliant and Arist will work together to ensure public reporting and accountability for continuous achievements and improvements in student diversity and success, community engagement, employee fulfillment and financial sustainability.

Alliant also announces the creation of the Alliant Educational Foundation, an independent, non-profit organization that will operate alongside the university as partial owner. The foundation will oversee scholarships, donations, grants, contracts, research and clinical training, and service centers affiliated with the university.
