The Counseling Services is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS) and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Counseling Services, part of the Student Health and Counseling Services, invites applications for one Faculty Counselor Full-time Lecturer (12 month, with anticipated renewal*). At least one additional full-time and/or part-time position is expected to be filled from this recruitment depending upon funding and operational need. The position requires direct and indirect clinical services (counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, case management, consultation, outreach services, and clinical supervision for unlicensed clinicians). Some evening and weekend hours are required to provide outreach, meet workload demands and/or fulfill departmental responsibilities, including providing back-up coverage to the after-hours on-call rotation team members when they are unavailable and/or in the event of a crisis or campus emergency. Required qualifications include: A doctorate in behavioral sciences, clinical or counseling psychology, or a specifically related academic field; licensed as a Psychologist in CA; previous experience in a university counseling center or experience working with the transitional age youth (TAY) population; experience in brief counseling working with a broad range of psychological problems and demonstrated competence addressing the needs of diverse clients; and experience in case management, crisis intervention, and outreach activities. Desired qualifications include one or more of the following: APA-accredited doctoral program and pre-doctoral internship; experience in supervising unlicensed therapists; specialty in serving the mental health needs of African American, Latina(o), and/or LGBT college students; specialty, interest in, and experience working with men’s issues, veterans, and/or survivors of trauma (childhood abuse, sexual abuse, and/or domestic violence); experience working with addictive and compulsive disorders, treating eating disorders, and/or working with serious mental illness in an outpatient setting; bilingual fluency in Spanish/English and competency to conduct therapy in Spanish.
