Alliant Faculty Spotlight: Sean Davis PhD

Dr. Sean Davis PhD and Associate Professor and Site Director at the California School of Professional Psychology’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program in Sacramento, CA was the 2011 recipient of the inaugural Provost Pillar Award for Applied Research and Scholarship.

Dr. Davis provides a model for the application of research to practice within the field.  His areas of study include, identifying the common factors leading to change in marriage and family therapy and bridging the scientist-practitioner gap in marriage and family therapy research and training.  He has authored and co-authored numerous professional books and journal articles, among them are 3 of the 5 most frequently cited articles from all the articles published from 2005-2008 in the prestigious Journal of Marital and Family Therapy.  Importantly, Dr. Davis is not only a “scholar’s scholar”, he also disseminates his work to the lay public in order to accomplish valuable public education.
