Dr. Marissa Pei, Alliant alumna, board member and much more
Some may have read about her on the front page of the Orange County Register, holding the space open for healing and peace in the aftermath of last fall’s Seal Beach, CA salon shooting tragedy. Others may have seen her on Discovery Channel’s “Hunting the Lost Symbol,” which airs regularly on Planet Green TV. Many experienced her motivational speaking at a few Alliant commencement addresses, where she borrowed from her most popular speech “Jump off That Hamster Wheel…into Balanced Living.”
Dr. Marissa Pei has done triple duty at Alliant, first as a Ph.D. student at CSPP, then as an adjunct professor of Organizational Psychology and now as a public member of Alliant’s Board of Trustees. Beyond Alliant, Pei is in her twenty-first year as an organizational consultant working with Fortune 500 clients including Johnson & Johnson, Wells Fargo, Cedars-Sinai, AT&T, Mattel, Toyota and Bank of America. She is also a TV commentator on a variety of human dynamics topics, including “Why People Do Weird Things at Work,” “Totally Out of Control People,” and her latest, “Conspiracy Theory.” Pei’s private Life Balance Coaching practice in Seal Beach and Sedona, AZ, is supported by sets of daily inspirational cards, “52 Card Pick (Me) Ups: Stacking the Deck for Life Balance with Dr. Marissa” just launched last year.
In her not-so-spare time she teaches Balance Tai Qi Qong (DVD in production), a moving meditation that promotes inner peace one breath at a time, runs a “21 Day Fast from Complaining” event on Facebook with more than 800 followers and has three original songs now available at Amazon.com and iTunes. More? Pei is also in her nineteenth year sailing competitively, but her favorite job is being a mom to her two beautiful girls, Chloe and Sarah. Obviously, her life motto is “Don’t die wondering.”
