Alliant Latino Students Going Places. “Adelante con Alliant”!

Alliant International University, through its Latino Achievement Initiative (LAI), works on behalf of its Latino student population, actively pursuing scholarships, grants, internships, work study and community engagement opportunities that help prepare them for the professional world.

Highlighted below are some of the recent award recipients:

Adanahi Saldivar-Gonzalez
Alliant senior Adanahi “Ada” Saldivar-Gonzalez was selected by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to participate in its National Internship Program, working for a semester in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Department of Commerce in the marketing department of the U.S. Census Bureau. Since its inception in 1992, the HACU National Internship Program has placed more than 9,000 talented Hispanic and other minority students in internships, primarily with federal agencies located in Washington, D.C. and field offices across the nation. As a member of HACU, Alliant can offer its students these types of opportunities which not only help to develop their professional skills but motivate them to graduate. Ada will be returning to campus in the spring to complete her bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing and communications at Alliant’s School of Management. Following graduation in May 2013, she plans to pursue her MBA
Angela J. Patino Medrano
Clinical forensic psychology graduate student Angela J. Patino Medrano received a $2,000 scholarship from the United Health Foundation and HACU to put towards her doctoral degree at Alliant. "I was ecstatic when I heard the news, I could not believe it!” says Angela. “As a doctoral student, I will benefit from this scholarship to help pay for my tuition and books.”

Esther Elias  Esther Elias
Alliant School of Management integrated marketing communication senior Esther Elias received the 2012 Alliant Hearst Scholarship - (PDF) which contributes $1,000 towards her education. “I was very excited and extremely appreciative to learn I was receiving this scholarship,” says Esther. “This award will help me concentrate more on my education rather than work."
Gricelda Alvarez
Alliant junior Gricelda Alvarez received a scholarship from the American Association of University Women to put towards her undergraduate psychology degree. “Winning this scholarship allows me to concentrate on my studies,” says Gricelda, “instead of worrying about financing my education.”
