Alliant Celebrates 2014 San Diego and Irvine Commencement

SAN DIEGO, Calif.--May 19, 2014--Nearly 500 students from Alliant International University’s Irvine and San Diego campuses are graduating with bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in the disciplines of psychology and mental health, education, business and management, and forensic studies.

Commencement for the Irvine and San Diego campuses is scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in San Diego. The processional will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. More than 20 awards will be presented for outstanding degrees at all levels, plus the Dorothy L. Harris Award for Women and F. Joseph Mcguigan Research Award. These graduates represent more than 20 countries, including Japan, Turkey, France, El Salvador, Qatar, Israel, and China.

Dr. Louise Kelly, a professor of strategy at the School of Management at Alliant’s San Diego campus, will be the Commencement speaker. Dr. Kelly, who holds a PhD in strategic management from Concordia University, was voted Outstanding Professor at Alliant School of Management in 2013. Under her faculty leadership, Alliant’s chapter of the National Executive Board of the Academy of Management’s Sigma Iota Epsilon fraternity--which is dedicated to excellence and ethics in business as a professional practice--won chapter of the year three years in a row. Dr. Kelly is a co-founder of GlobalMind Center for Strategic Consulting, and her international scholarship and publications have led to her designation as an Outstanding Scholar by the U.S. federal government.

Alliant's Irvine campus offers graduate programs in several areas, including couple and family therapy, educational psychology, school counseling, and school psychology. Its San Diego campus offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide variety of disciplines, including business administration, child development, couple and family therapy, criminal justice, criminology, education leadership and management, law political science, and psychology.
