CSPP-Fresno Associate Professor Paul Lebby Publishes Book on Brain Injury

In the past few months, Associate Professor Dr. Paul Lebby has been invited to lead a workshop, present a paper and publish a chapter in a textbook “Clinical Pediatric Neurology.” All these events stem from his most recent book “The Source of Traumatic Brain Injury – Children and Adolescents,” co-written with Alliant alumna Shana Asbell.

The book includes a CD-ROM that contains Lebby’s own tests of neurocognitive functioning: The Lebby-Asbell Neurocognitive Screening Examination for Children (LANSE-C) and The Lebby-Asbell Neurocognitive Screening Examination for Adolescents (LANSE-A), which he has been invited to present at the National Academy of Neuropsychology in November in Scottsdale, Arizona. He will also conduct a workshop there on the Neurology of Language.

In addition to his writing and research, Dr. Lebby is a member of the Alliant Board of Trustees. He is dedicated to contributing to the evolution of neuropsychology and does so not just through his teaching, but also via the many dissertations he chairs, presentations he gives and papers he publishes.

Even before 1990, when Lebby entered UC – Berkeley’s PhD program in psychology, he was dedicated to neuropsychology. While still an undergraduate at Berkeley, he presented at the Western Psychological Association Annual Conference, San Francisco, CA.  In 1991, Lebby presented at the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience, New Orleans, LA.

He has given more than 34 presentations and is a member of National Academy of Neuropsychology, American Psychological Association, American College of Forensic Examiners, Association for Play Therapy and Epilepsy Foundation of Central California, of which he is past-president and on the Board of Directors.

Currently, Dr. Lebby is on active medical staff at Children’s Hospital Central California, in the department of medical rehabilitation/neuropsychology and at UCSF medical center in the department of neurology.  Dr. Lebby also sustains a private practice and is the president and founder of the Central California Neuropsychology Associates.

Over the many years that Dr. Lebby, former Director of Alliant’s Department of Neuropsychology, has been in clinical practice, he has conducted thousands of evaluations on persons aged infant to geriatric. He regularly assists in neurosurgical procedures where he maps brain functioning during brain surgery, assesses language lateralization via Wada (intracarotid sodium amytal) procedures and acts as a consultent regarding brain injury and recovery. Dr. Lebby also provides No Fee Client Services for low income children and adults.
