July 19, 2007

Graduate School Of Education Professor and Coordinator for the TESOL Doctorate Program Dr. Hassana Alidou has been invited to join the panel of Consulting Editors for the International Review of Education, one of the most prestigious journals in International and Comparative education, read worldwide by scholars and education policy-makers.

As a Consulting Editor Dr. Alidou will carry out peer reviews of articles and have the opportunity to review books for IRE and act as advisor on special issues of the journal.

The journal is edited by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning in Hamburg, Germany. Dr. Alidou has served as a Senior Research Consultant for literacy and bilingual/multilingual education and language policies in education for UNESCO. Her professional contributions stretch far beyond Alliant International University. She is a published author, and in the past ten years has consulted with education and literacy organizations worldwide.

“Dr. Alidou has distinguished herself in the global community of scholars and brought honor to all of us at Alliant, but especially to our Graduate School Of Education. She makes all of us proud of her numerous accomplishments.  I know the prestigious reputation of the Journal of International Review of Education and I am not surprised that they have judged the quality of her research to be exceptional and asked her to become a Consulting Editor,” said GSOE Professor and Founding Systemwide Dean Dr. Karen Schuster Webb.

Dr. Alidou will also be featured in next edition of "Who’s Who Among America's Teachers and Educators,” having been selected among America's top 5 percent of teachers for 2007. This is a great honor as recipients are nominated by their own students.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support,” said Dr. Alidou. “It means a lot to me.”

       Double congratulations Dr. Alidou!
